Components

Social Media Follow

The Social media follow component directs users to the official social media channels of an EU institution or body, helping support audience growth and engagement across platforms. It gives users a clear, consistent way to access content that may be updated more frequently, extending the organisation's communication beyond the web presence.

Do's

  • follow the relevant social media branding guidelines for each platform
  • present social media channels in a consistent order across all pages where the component appears
  • place the component at the bottom of the section or page
  • use the 'Other social networks' link to surface additional accounts

Don'ts

  • avoid displaying more than six networks inline
  • exclude channels that are not officially endorsed or that the organisation does not actively maintain

When to use

  • use when the organisation has active, maintained accounts on the platforms listed
  • use when the goal is to increase visibility for a campaign or initiative with an active social media presence

When not to use

  • do not use if the organisation is not subscribed to or actively publishing on the social media network
  • do not use as a substitute for the Social media share component, which allows users to share a specific page
