Accessible names
Even if an icon has no visible label by design, it must be described to blind users. Provide a description of the icon's scope (e.g., "information", "download") so developers can insert it into the code.
If an indicator with a small pin is shown, its meaning must be explained to blind users, who will not see the superscript number or have context. Complete the number with what it refers to (e.g., "items not read", "new items", "draft documents") so the screen reader pronounces it clearly. The screen reader of blind users will pronounce for instance "2 items not read".
